Disco genius Giorgio Moroder is prepping the release of his first studio album in over 30 years. The Italian dance producer shared new details of the anticipated release earlier this week and along with the title announcement of Déjà Vu, Moroder confirmed collaborations with the likes of Britney Spears, Foxes and Charli XCX, alongside the previously released "Right Here, Right Now" featuring Kylie Minogue.
For the third official offering from the upcoming album, Moroder teams up with the ever-elusive Sia for the effort's title track, a disco bopping tune that shows an energetic, poppy style we have not heard from the "Chandelier" singer in quite some time. The new track sounds fitting for the club floor, not those lonely moments in bed with nothing but a pint of ice cream.
"Déjà vu" is an exciting, thrilling moment of dance euphoria that should have been expected when the pairing of Moroder and Sia was announced. Combine the producer's ability to craft timeless dancefloor tunes with Sia's way to convey feeling with her words... and you have yourself a sure-fire hit.
This may be Moroder's song, however, it is Sia's impeccable vocal performance that immediately draws the attention of the listener. Sia is clearly one of the most talented vocalist on the scene right now and her songwriting is always the perfect fit for her. "Oh my heartache, but I know fate, will send you my way, and when you came my heart was saved" she lovingly belts.
It's refreshing to hear Sia on more joyous-sounding material, and Moroder handles the dance/disco/funk reigns like he hasn't been away from the music scene for three decades. The vibe is modern with an intriguing throwback flavor that combines both of the artists' abilities together perfectly. Could "Déjà vu" be a contender for the song of the summer?
