The beauty line is described as "a full line of natural cosmetics that work because of how they’re made, not in spite of it." Last year I had the opportunity to try almost a full face of Burt's Bees makeup and I really enjoyed the products I've tried - especially the blush!
So, when I got the opportunity to try the new Liquid Lipsticks from Burt's Bees I was so excited to try them out!
Burt's Bees Liquid Lipstick ~ $15.99 CAN. Burt's Bees Liquid Lipsticks glide on smoothly for an intense hit of color. This long-wearing formula delivers all-day moisture leaving lips looking lush and healthy. This 100% natural, liquid lipstick contains conditioning Apricot and Babassu Oil, Shea Butter and essential fatty acids to maintain soft, happy lips.
Burt's Bees is a fairly accessible natural brand that can be found in drugstores or plenty of online retailers. The prices are reasonable - on the higher end of drug store prices; but, they are natural and thats something to take in to account.
Now, this liquid lipstick formula is not a matte, dry down liquid lipstick formula, so don't expect that from these lipsticks! They are a satin formula and do not dry down on the lips. So, they will have some transfer; but, they are gorgeous colours! They are really comfortable and super soft on the lips! The have decent wear time of a few hours depending on what you are doing while wearing them!
This lipstick has a little doe foot applicator and it does take a couple dips in the tube to cover the lips; but, the formula is really opaque when applied. The little doesn't have a very sharp tip, so it would benefit from a lipliner as well. The formula is shiny and super soft!
Here are the 4 shades I received swatched on me:
Sandy Seas ~ brown caramel undertone in a deep nude shade
I would call this is a pretty medium nude lipstick as opposed to a "deep" nude shade; but, it is a really pretty nude caramel shade!
This is a nice nude shade and I think it's flattering on my skin tone, which I struggle to find nudes that don't wash me out!
Flushed Petal ~ pinkish undertone with a deep rose hue
Again, I wouldn't refer to this a "deep" hue and it's a little pinker on the lips than I expected from the tube - I was think it would be a little rosier.
This is a pretty pink shade - again, a little more pink than rose and it's a brighter pink shade! It's really pretty!
Drenched Dahlia ~ berry red undertone with a deep ruby hue
This is a beautiful bright red shade - this is by far my favorite shade out of all 4 of theses! I just think it's a ruby red that is super flattering!
I never reach for red lipsticks and I absolutely love this one - I will be reaching for this on a night out because it is so pretty!
Wine Waters ~ plum undertone with a rich burgundy hue
This is the deepest shade of the bunch and you can tell that it gets a little streakier as it's a darker shade. It is still a really pretty shade - it just needs a little more work!
This shade just takes an extra layer to make it more opaque and less streaky - it's a nice deep shade that I can see myself pulling it out in the Fall!
I'm also wearing the Burt's Bees Goodness Glows Liquid Foundation and Burt's Bees 100% Natural Nourishing Mascara.
Overall, the shades are really pretty and they wear well on the lips. They are super soft and not sticky at all. If you want them to be a little less shiny and more matte, then just make sure to blot the lips. Overall, I quite like these formulas and I see myself reaching for Sandy Seas and Drenched Dahlia a lot!
Have you guys tried the Burt's Bees makeup line yet? What do you think of natural, affordable makeup?
